Forthcoming trends in construction and infra equipments sector 2022

We observe a changing trend in the market after Covid-19. Most of the customers today, prefer to go with equipments on rental instead of purchasing them. One of the key reasons is to avoid huge investment, and the other is to reduce the maintenance cost, staff, operators, etc.

We also found some changes in equipment purchase i.e.,

  • Fuel savings/electricity saving, as one of the very important area customers are concentrating to reduce the operational cost;
  • Breakdown history of the brand, as the breakdowns is leading to heavy operational losses, project delay, etc.;
  • Proven life of the equipment;
  • Resale value of the equipment;
  • Spare parts frequency and price.

All the above factors were analysed by the corporate companies, but after Covid-19. Almost all companies are closely verifying the above parameters rather than checking the cost of the equipment. Because the competition in the market is very high, profit margins are low; every contractor is looking for the ways to reduce the operational cost and faster completion. For example, our GJJ brand Passenger hoist is designed to save huge electricity. Normally 2t capacity single cage passenger hoist requires 3 x 11KW Motor to run at a speed of 33 to 36 M/Min. The speed will be getting reduced even up to 28 M/Min when operated with full load of 2 tonnes even though operated through VFD. Whereas, GJJ passenger hoists are designed with NORD Germany Motor & gear box, Siemens VFD achieves 46 M/Min speed with full load of 2 tonnes, with a power of only 2 x 11KW=22KW. This it is showing a saving of 33 percent electricity and an increased speed of 30 percent due to proper design optimisation.

Last year, we supplied 1 Unit GJJ Passenger hoist to RAYMOND LTD. (Realty Division) with an energy meter to prove the above savings. Now, there are 8 GJJ Passenger hoists at the same “Thane Site” with energy meter that has proven the power savings with out reduction of load and speed. Most of the contractors just look into the buying cost and spend around ₹3 – 4 Lakh, every year on electricity which is unwanted/wastage to the nation.

We therefore request all the contractors to check all the operational parameters of any equipment before purchase/ rental. Some time little higher purchase cost will save huge operational cost, faster production, negligible breakdowns leads to the faster completion of the project.
