P.V. RAMDEV, MD, EVEREST ENGG,

Briefly provide us an over view of the High rise construction trends in India, challenges and how do you look at the market for your equipment.

High rise construction trends are on the rise, and the construction equipment requirements are also increasing. The high rise building industry is currently facing a slowdown on sales and the recovery of payments. To reduce capital expenditure, many of the construction companies / contractors are opting for hiring the construction equipment rather than purchase.

What has been the impact of Covid-19 on your business and what are your strategies to overcome these sluggish market conditions and expand market share.

Covid 19 had impacted the whole industry and we were on a recovery path. Meanwhile the second wave of covid has slowed down the new normal. To expand our market share we decided to lease/rent our equipment and hence formed a new company “Everest Rentals Pvt Ltd” to specifically focus on equipment rental.

Tell us about your products offered in the Highrise Handlers segment and level of indigenisation in your equipment. Cutting edge technology featured in your products.

Our standard Passenger hoist for high rise buildings is designed to go up to 500m height, which is our specialty. We also offer various speeds of 46,63,96 & 120 M/Min according to the height of building. Various sizes of cages from 2.5m ~ 5m length a width of 1.2m ~ 2m and the height of 2.35m ~ 6.5m are being offered. Our Bi-Directional busbar system eliminates the trailing cable issues.

Give us an understanding of the safety features equipped in your products. To what extent does operational safety and tall building construction equipment regulations influence product design.

Our Passenger hoists are designed & manufactured according to European standards and thus are working in various countries like UK, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, USA, Middle East and all Asian countries. The international safety standards in our passenger hoists are very high. All the safety Limit switches are of Schmersal Germany; PLC & VFD are from Siemens Germany ensuring trouble free & safe operations.

Your company’s emphasis on R&D and innovation

Most of the construction & Infrastructure Equipment or its components / parts are still imported, mainly from China. In a view to indigenize the entire passenger hoist, we have started our R&D division this year even though we are a small scale MSME company.

Any new launches or being launched in the near future?

We had planned to launch our EE brand hoist in 2021, but due to the pandemic, its delayed.

Your strategy in this price sensitive market

Indian market is price sensitive and thus we are finding new ways to compete, with out compromising international quality & safety standards. Now a days people are also carefully looking into the life of the equipment, spare parts price, Prompt & Quick service availability…etc. Our equipment are designed for 20 years of usage with out any major breakdown, That’s why we get wide acceptance from contractors and rental companies.

Aftermarket services and consultancy offered by your company.

We have about 50 Engineers & technicians to take care of these equipment PAN India. We also help the customers in the beginning / planning stage of the projects for the selection of right equipment like Tower cranes, passenger hoists, CNC Rebar processing machines, Girder launchers, straddle carriers & Self propelled modular transporters….etc. along with its proper placement, dismantling schedule & logistic plan.

Tell us of the important projects where your products have been installed with success?

Our major success is the supply of 294 Tower cranes of 6t, 10t, 12t & 16t to BG SHIRKE for their various precast building projects in DDA Delhi, CIDCO Taloja, MHADA Pune / Virar/ Kalyan, Tamilnadu housing Chennai…etc. We have also supplied hundreds of passenger hoist to various customers like L&T, CAPACITE , ITC , PENINSULA, RAYMOND, TATA, SIFY, RIL, Appaswami, IOCL, KEC….. etc. Our equipment are working satisfactorily for last 10 years.

Tell us about your manufacturing base in India. Are you contributing to the ‘Make in India’ and Sell Globally campaign

We have started working on “Make In India & Sell Globally” campaign. Our land parcel near Mumbai will be developed stage wise for manufacturing in India with global sales in mind. Being a small scale MSME, we are now awaiting various govt departmental approvals for a factory start up.

What kind of government policy would foster growth of the industry in India.

A single window and fast track clearance for factory set up approvals like Land survey, Village, circle, Tahasildar, collector offices, Pollution control, forest, PWD, Fire & Safety, Health, Electricity, Water, Town planning, factory license ……etc. will go a long way in fostering growth. This must be the major focus of the govt to avoid the drop out in MSME start ups. Secondly we suggest to set up a online customer helpline / call centre state wise to help the MSME start ups on various aspects like Approvals, Funding options, about state & central subsidy schemes, uninterrupted water & electricity & good roads.

Future outlook for the tall building equipment industry and from a company perspective

The future of the high rise buildings is very bright and shows a continuous growth. The construction technology will keep on changing with the induction of new technologies. Highly mechanised construction with an eye on the shortest completion period is the future. So the construction equipment Industry must focus on the future technology requirements.
